This time it's Andy Williams who got it wrong! While Christmas is okay on the mountain, spring is when it is happening in our corner of the wood.

There's no place like home
(even if you do want to sell it)
Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY - May 2014
We've lived here for 12 years, almost half our 25 year marriage, but it is time to move on. Nevertheless, on a late spring Sunday, when you have been out traveling all day, there is still, no place like home.

photograhed'hôtes
(guest photographer)
Cindy likes to say that Kerry doesn't think outside the box simply because he isn't even in the same ROOM as the box. Still, his unconventional angle of the Eiffel Tower makes for an impressive photograph (despite being shot using an iPhone)

Oscar Got it Wrong
'Paradoxically though it may seem, it is none the less true that life imitates art far more than art imitates life.'- Oscar Wilde
In this case the photograph was inspiration for the oil painting that followed it. We are lucky to have an amazing neighbor in Luisa Piano, who happens to be a very talented artist as you can see from her rendition of the photo which was shot from Humiston Park in Vero Beach.

Les Amis
(the friends)
While Kerry is winding down his time in France, Kelsey had a short, but happy reunion with her coro Elisa. Elisa spent time here in the fall of 2010, following Kelsey's visit to Pertuis, France that spring. The next installment looks to be Peru 2015. Elisa will begin a year study abroad there this August and Kelsey is hoping to study for three weeks in January 2015.

Nice Day
Nice, France- April 2014
It's Kerry's turn to visit France- Kelsey was there four years ago and we actually had to wait til she came home to see her pictures..... Instagram hadn't even launched then. Now it has over one hundred million users, Kerry, in France being one of them.
At the same time he loaded his instagram, Kelsey and Cindy sent me this picture from Run or Dye, a colorful 5K they ran in Long Island.

Spring cleaning Christmas memories
Clearing out some junk stuff in preparation for a (hopeful) move later on this year (or next) and we came across Christmas shots which spent some time on the wall (as 11x14s) and wound up in the closet. Took some pictures of the pictures to save in the Cloud and on the blog. It's cloudy in the cloud though, so I am a bit sketchy on the exact years of the pictures.

Getting Around Town
Getting Around Instagram
New York, New York- February, 2014
March isn't a very blog-friendly month. Instagram isn't a very blog-friendly app. You need to know the right people. In Cindy's case it was two students, Ciro and Fatima, who showed her how to get Kelsey's picture off her instagram account and onto my blog.

Send pictures, not weather
Southworth, WA - January, 2014
As the latest storm originating from the west dumps 12+ inches on us here on the mountain, I express my appreciation to my friend Lenore Babic for her photographs but she can keep the weather, thank you very much.

New Month, New Skill
Vero Beach, FL- January, 2014
There will be no stopping him now! The Photographer has mastered the skill of downloading and sending his pictures to the Blogger so there should be no gaps between photographs while he's away. Well done!

New Year, New Mode
Vero Beach, FL- January 2014
After years of the Photographer refusing to shoot into the sun, apparently it is possible with the sunset mode on his newest camera.

BIDDING ADIEU TO 2013
Hamburg, PA- January 2014
Kerry took this shot, after Cindy attempted without success to do something creative by capturing the sunset in the sideview mirror.
Not only did we bid adieu to the year but we also said 'cheerio' to the 1978 British MGB which I sold after three years of expensive repairs! fun.
Vero Beach, FL- December, 2012
Here it is seen stopping off for a spot of tea at Penny Poppins, a new eatery in Vero Beach.

How about some high temperatures
(with a side of high tint)?
Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY- December 2013
Guess the blog has to do what nature won't. Raised the temperature and the tint to deepen the reds and the greens.

On the Fifth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me
five golden rings field
Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY- December 2013
Back to Kenridge Farm. Wouldn't think you could create gold in winter, especially with snow on the ground, but the sun was hitting the grasses just right and on second look even the trees went for the gold.

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE GAVE TO ME
TWO TURTLE(s and two)DOVES
Vero Beach, FL- December 2013
Yorktown, NY- July, 2013
The (questionable as to whether they are even) doves located themselves outside the Snowbird's (aka Photographer's) residence and the 'turtles' (one turtle, two mediums)- the pet of one of my students, Ciro. Ciro took a wonderful photograph and was able to replicate it in pencil.

Ready for Christmas
Cornwall, New York- December, 2013
At a local Christmas tree farm, I found these subjects much more interesting than their green counterparts. I may have a contender for the 2014 Christmas card.
Here is a different view of Storm King Mountain taken from Kenridge Farm a local nature preserve before it is buried under snow and inaccessible for the winter....

TheHollyandtheIvy
Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY- December, 2013
From the Christmas Carol 'The Holy and the Ivy' Of all the trees in the wood, the holly wears the crown... the folks that lived here prior had the foresight to plant some holly bushes around the property for us to enjoy year round but especially in winter. We just couldn't decide which was the best shot!

Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Storm King Mountain, New York- December 2013
A little guest blogging by the photographer's daughter who is using an iPhone and breaking the photographer's number one commandment- Thou shalt never shoot into the sun
The shot was taken while she was in a car on the way to the train, while the photographer was on a plane headed for A Place in the Sun

WINDOWS8
Cornwall-on Hudson, NY - December, 2013
Before the photographer jettisons off to warmer weather he left a plethora of photographs to celebrate the season and finish 2013 with a blog bang. Here is the first, a dressed up turret and a chimney awaiting St. Nick.

RETAIL'S BUSIEST WEEKEND
Cyberspace- November, 2013
Looking for a great gift idea? Apparently the guests at the Reef Ocean Resort have and the photographer's cards have sold out. While it would appear from the e mail that only one card needs replacing a follow up phone call confirmed that five pictures were out of stock.
Starting with a Kodak Brownie Camera moving thru Minolta's 35mm camera system, five years ago I was a reluctant convert to the "Church of Digital " and never looked back.
