It has been a while for me, my camera and my blog.  I was busy trading new digs for old digs.  Some new photos from the new digs, just this morning in fact.  The pictures of Bentley on the dock overlooking "The Fingers" at Vero Beach must be credited to Kelsey.

I capture images, photographs capture time

A little play with some time elapsed images.  This afternoon I photographed our resident rabbit on the mountain.  A week ago Cindy photographed me in the first moments I saw my oldest in her wedding gown.

One down, one to go.  Our Florida townhome sold (thank you Dick Davis, Dale Sorensen Realty) and now we await the sale of the Dairy Barn here in Cornwall (your turn, Rob Knochen, Weichert Realty) in order to purchase our little dream home on the canal in Vero Beach.

Chip off the Old Block

Back in the day, I had a reputation for doing anything to get a shot.  Up early to get sunrises, delay dinner to get sunsets, swarms of bugs.  Stepped in some cow manure (in my defense it looked like a large stone) in a pasture in Vermont.  When I spotted this shot along Manhattan's High Line, I liked the look even if it was a little far away.   Being the High Line it isn't really conducive to jumping off to get a close up.

Unless you are Kerry, who is considerably more agile than I am these days.  He felt the shot was worth the trip down the High Line and over the West Side Highway

Note the typical Kerry angle.  

I no longer feel the need to do anything for the shot.  That's why I have a telephoto lens.

Yes, I went all the way to Colorado and sadly forgot my camera for the picturesque day trip to Vail.  Upon our return from Vail there was a violent thunderstorm in the Denver area complete with hail and high winds.  I've been reading about a lightening trigger which keeps the shutter open for the shortest amount of time which creates super sharp lightening.   This was my attempt- the old fashioned way.  An accidental bonus was the cloud formation.  

 

Happy Father's Day

We gave the Photographer the day off for Father's Day and instead are giving all three of his children a 'shot' at the blog.

We've lived here for 12 years, almost half our 25 year marriage, but it is time to move on.  Nevertheless, on a late spring Sunday, when you have been out traveling all day, there is still, no place like home.

Cindy likes to say that Kerry doesn't think outside the box simply because he isn't even in the same ROOM as the box.  Still, his unconventional angle of the Eiffel Tower makes for an impressive photograph (despite being shot using an iPhone)

In this case the photograph was inspiration for the oil painting that followed it.  We are lucky to have an amazing neighbor in Luisa Piano, who happens to be a very talented artist as you can see from her rendition of the photo which was shot from Humiston Park in Vero Beach.

While Kerry is winding down his time in France, Kelsey had a short, but happy reunion with her coro Elisa.  Elisa spent time here in the fall of 2010, following Kelsey's visit to Pertuis, France that spring. The next installment looks to be Peru 2015.  Elisa will begin a year study abroad there this August and Kelsey is hoping to study for three weeks in January 2015.

It's Kerry's turn to visit France- Kelsey was there four years ago and we actually had to wait til she came home to see her pictures..... Instagram hadn't even launched then.  Now it has over one hundred million users, Kerry, in France being one of them.  

At the same time he loaded his instagram, Kelsey and Cindy sent me this picture from Run or Dye, a colorful 5K they ran in Long Island.

Spring cleaning Christmas memories

Clearing out some junk stuff in preparation for a (hopeful) move later on this year (or next) and we came across Christmas shots which spent some time on the wall (as 11x14s) and wound up in the closet.  Took some pictures of the pictures to save in the Cloud and on the blog.  It's cloudy in the cloud though, so I am a bit sketchy on the exact years of the pictures.
