"Same name, same attitude, without the money"
Pawling, NY- August, 2016
We met the most interesting and helpful people yesterday that enhanced our day and my photos.
First stop Jones Pond to (re)photograph the wild irises from the post of August 9. Met some new folks from Pawling Lake Estates community (actually much of the community is new to us). Spoke for a while to Ann, her daughter Anne Marie, Judy and Violet, a French septuagenarian who bonded with Cindy over her photos of Nice and Carcassonne. This delayed us on the way to our next destination - the Quaker Road section of Pawling, north of the village.
That delay put us right in the path of Steve Ewing, owner of Wingnut Farm. When he saw me trying to photograph a field of Queen Anne's lace, he offered up another location, inaccessible by car, but way more populated in terms of Queen Anne's lace. So off we went- his Irish Setter, Logan riding shotgun, Cindy and I in the truck bed.

And if that wasn't enough, he brought us back to the farm to photograph his garden of sunflowers. He even set up the shot- instructing me to shoot into the sun to get the best color from the flowers. Thanking him profusely for his help, he refused to take too much credit- 'just call me Steve Ansel Adams Ewing'. Cindy confirmed the spelling of his name... "Ewing like J.R. from Dallas?" to which he replied "same name, same attitude, without the money."
We disagree. With that view and that dog- he is a rich man indeed.
