NO  EXCUSES

A health teacher in my high school talks about a 'no excuses lifestyle' but man we have excuses!  Since August, Cindy's aunt has come to live with us, my back is back to its old tricks (L4,L5) and my camera is up to some new tricks - none of them good, which requires a second trip back to Fuji for some quality time with a camera technician.  In the meantime this is what we have to show for the last three months...

God's Grandeur

Two different photographers, father and son.  Two different Sundays, one month apart.  Both shots a tribute to the beauty of God's earth.  The photographer at the Cathedral of St. John in Savannah, GA and the son at the top of the Stillman-Howell trail a little closer to home...

WHERE IS WALDO?

Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY - June, 2013

Even though the picture looks like it is from Florida and the Photographer is currently in Florida, the picture itself was taken a couple weeks ago with the new camera in COH, right in his backyard to be exact....

Garrison, New York- June, 2013

Happy Father's Day to the photographer who actually got his present a few weeks back.  The weather wasn't working to his favor, so he only got to use the new Fuji finepix S for the first time this weekend.  He wanted to make sure I included the fact that the Fuji comes with built in filters, which I guess is fairly obvious from the photograph above.

Who is your Daddy?

Smithtown, New York- December, 1960

Cindy here-  the photographer is back in Florida and because there is snow on the ground and in the forecast, the blog is refusing to accept sunny, sandy pictures right now.  I was recently in Denver and raided my mother's cache of photos.  I'd never seen the first photo, my dad as a twenty-six year old father, and love it juxtaposed with him as a sixty-two year old Grandpa.

Taking Care of Business

Reef Ocean Resort, Vero Beach, FL - February, 2013

While Cindy can claim I was having fun in the Florida sun while she was home handling the snow and ice that would be entirely untrue.  Our timeshare, The Reef Ocean Resort, has undergone a change in management.  The new manager asked if I would take photographs of the resort to sell as notecards in the front office.  So actually I was hard at work...

Cindy here- Big photo credit to my colleague Cathy and her cute as a button daughter Sophie for infusing the blog with some California dreaming.  Gave the picture a little low temperature high tint for some effect.

THE BLOG

Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY - February, 2013

Cindy here-  I'm a good person but I am a good person with a blog to fill and I'm getting nothing from the photographer.

I took Bentley for a walk yesterday morning and I tried to capture the newly fallen snow on the tree branches.  My first attempt was boring until I discovered cyan tone on Windows Photo Gallery.  Now I know the photographer, a purist, would approve of my special editing effects but a girls gotta do....

TAKING ONE FOR THE BLOG

Yorktown, NY- February, 2013

Cindy here- well, another major storm and the photographer is where?  Florida, of course.  Let's face it, none of us want to view any photos of sunny Florida while we are digging out.  Neither should anyone be subjected to my digging out pictures because as bad as my digging out has been, someone else's digging out is always worse.

Time to bring in a guest photographer to help this blogger.

Last week I was at Yorktown High School's Evening of Dance and was entertained for hours by our students.  The boy shown above (my apologies to his partner, I don't know her name) is Zakary, one of my juniors.  Even from the audience I could see him taking shots to the face from his partner's ponytail.  How fortunate for the blog that his parents were able to capture the moment.

Broadening His Horizons

Wakefield, RI- January 2013

Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, Vero Beach, FL, the photographer decided to mix it up for a change and include a shot from somewhere else- specifically Rhode Island.  This shot was taken out a window (through a screen no less!) looking east during a chilly January sunrise.

Deja Vu all over again

Sebastian Inlet, FL- December, 2012

Three years, three cameras, and a switch from film to digital but the view doesn't change.  Below is a 2009 APS photo from a 2011 blog post.

New Town for Kid

Savannah, Georgia - August, 2012

The photographer stumbled across Savannah this summer and it looks like there are photo possibilities in the future.  After a dinner at Chez Paula Deen http://ladyandsons.com/, which was a bit on the pricey but filling side it was time to walk through the city.  The conditions weren't great but he managed to get a couple of shots in before twilight with plans to return this fall....

Bentley meet Bentley
Dog meets Machine

Boca Raton, FL- August 2012

Boca Raton translates into 'mouth of the rat' but during a recent visit to the upscale section of Mizner Park we now believe the meaning to be 'home of the small dog'.  Never mind, Bentley ever the gentlemen did not soil any part of the downtown, behaved well at Max's Grill where we ate outside in 90 degree sunshine and as a reward got to pose in front of an actual Bentley.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Cool Fish

Life imitates a children's book

follows a confused baby bird as he asks cows, planes and steam shovels the all important question....
I wanted to have this post ready by Mother's Day, but my scanner had other ideas.  This was a digital picture that came to us by print and mocked me daily until I could upload it.  Finally a week later, the scan feature cooperated.

LITTLE RED CORVETTE

Vero Beach, Florida- February, 2012

Ok, for the record, it isn't a corvette, it is Daddy's 1978 mgb. On the other hand, Kelsey has a black miata convertible but it just wouldn't be the same when juxtaposed next to the picture with Grandpa from summer of '96.

Blowing Rock, NC- August,1996

She'll claim this picture is proof that she is destined to own the mgb.

Here's Bentley.....

Walton, New York - December, 2011

The day after Winter died, Cindy began reading a book entitled A Dog's Purpose, the premise being each dog's life has its own purpose and dogs live several different lives. The hero of the book dies and is reborn that day as another dog. Great book and she made us all read it.

Also the day after Winter died, Cindy talked to her dad's cousin Ron Sr. Ron loved Winter despite as an exuberant adolescent he scratched Ron's arm resulting in well... a loss of blood. Ron was saddened to hear the news and in the course of the conversation mentioned that Marian, Ron Jr's significant other had recently lost one of her favorite dogs and was mourning as well. Oh, and one of her other dogs had just had a litter the day before.

Hours after Winter died.

Try to convince any of us otherwise, we believe Bentley could just be Winter. He certainly has the coloring. He and Kelsey began the bonding process yesterday.
